De 1987 a 1996 viví en el Puerto de Veracruz. Siempre he disfrutado de la música tradicional que se toca en el sur del estado y, al estar cerca del grupo Mono Blanco, empecé a fotografiar los fandangos que se celebran en Tlacotalpan y en otras poblaciones y ciudades. Pronto mi pasión por ese género musical me llevó a los músicos, los bailadores y bailadoras, los instrumentos, los lauderos, y el universo único que allí existe. Esta breve selección que presento es parte del amplio registro de imágenes que he reunido en más de treinta años.

From 1987 to 1996 I lived in the Port of Veracruz for ten years. I have always enjoyed the traditional music played in the South of the state, called Son Jarocho. Being close to the group Mono Blanco (White Monkey), I began to photograph the fandangos that are celebrated in Tlacotalpan and other towns and cities. Soon my passion for this musical genre led me to its musicians, dancers, the instruments, luthiers, to the unique universe that exists there. This brief selection that I present is part of the vast archive of images that I have gathered in more than thirty years.
