Estas imágenes forman parte del proyecto Árboles ancestrales de Veracruz, que realicé con el apoyo del Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte (2020-2022). Me parece que la cámara estenopeica les da a estas fotografías un carácter estético muy especial, que se manifiesta en una gran fuerza y belleza. Mi intención es despertar el asombro y respeto que siento por estos integrantes de la naturaleza, indispensables para su supervivencia. A pesar de que cada vez hay más conciencia sobre los graves problemas ecológicos de nuestro tiempo, entre ellos la tala inmoderada de los bosques y selvas, no es suficiente para detener su avance, porque los intereses económicos son determinantes. Y no se avisora una solución para tan grave situación.

These images are part of the project Ancestral Trees of Veracruz, which I carried out with the support of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte (2020-2022). I think the pinhole camera gives these photographs a very special aesthetic character, which manifests itself in great power and beauty. My intention is to awaken the wonder and respect I feel for these members of nature, indispensable to its survival. Although there is an increasing awareness of the serious ecological problems of our time, like the immoderate destruction of forests and jungles, it has not been enough to stop their advance, because economic interests are decisive. There is no solution in sight to such a serious situation.
